An abandoned match’s last score is not automatically its official result
A scoreboard showing 2–1 when play stops records what had happened by that point. It does not, by itself, establish how the competition will record an abandoned match or how a particular market will settle.

The football rule leaves room for a competition decision
The current IFAB Law 7.5 makes competition rules and organizers relevant to abandoned-match treatment. Its 2026/27 text also includes a specific principle concerning responsibility when a team has fewer than seven players. A cropped scoreboard does not identify those circumstances or apply the rule on its own.
The football Laws concern the sport. They are not a complete set of sportsbook conditions. A competition decision and an operator’s applicable market rule can therefore be separate documents that answer different questions.
Preserve the known facts in three rows

Writing “A won 2–1” would move an intermediate observation into the official-result field without evidence. Writing “all bets refunded” would make another unsupported move into the settlement field. The example deliberately leaves both unresolved.
An update should not erase the original observation
If a later official statement gives a decision, save its source and time alongside the original 61-minute score. The earlier observation need not be false merely because the final administrative record differs. They describe different stages.
Distinguish suspended, postponed, canceled and abandoned wording instead of treating them as synonyms. Use the official status actually supplied. A brief data-feed label may require clarification from the competition’s fuller report.
Ask the question at the right layer
For a competition question, ask what the organizer decided and under which rule. For an account question, identify the accepted market, covered period, event reference and applicable abandonment condition, then compare the settlement record. A screenshot without those fields cannot settle either issue.
This approach does not promise a replay, forfeit, payout or refund. Its practical value is preventing the last visible score from silently becoming three different conclusions. Where a decision is pending, an honest pending label is more informative than a guessed final result.
